Stella Adler: Musical Theater Intensive 2023

Congrats to the Summer 2023 class!

I had the wonderful opportunity to be an accompanist for the Stella Adler MTI program during the Summer of 2023. Headed by Artistic Director Robbie Simpson, this program introduced pre-professionals to the Adler Acting Technique with a focus on the lead musical theater role.

My main task was accompanying classes in a Masterclass style, working alongside Mary Kate Morrissey and Colin Hanlon for their Acting a Song and Audition Techniques classes. Throughout the 5 week program, we worked on skills such as risk stacking, singing pop music, self tapes, and more all through the Adler lens of living within an imaginary circumstance.

This was definitely a ambitious first project right after college, but I took it in stride and learned quite a lot about myself as a pianist as well as the Adler technique as well. I found myself able to handle to large amount of sight reading for the job as well as working alongside an instructor.
